Piloxing is...

AWESOME!!

It is not only a fantastic cardio workout, it is great toning and fine toning as well.

Piloxing is a combination of Pilates and Kick Boxing. In some instances it is a pairing of the two - a Pilates position/move paired with punching. In others, it is a 1-2 combination - kick boxing moves finished by a Pilates position for fine toning.

So how much of a workout is it? Well, it is a cool day, they had the door open and the GIANT fan on and I was STILL sweating up a storm!  Though there is a lot of arm work, since I didn't have any weighted gloves, I felt most of the burn in my glutes, quads, hamstrings, and core (core meaning EVERY facet of my abs & obliques, plus my lower back muscles). And when I say burn I mean BURN!!  (In a good way of course) It's a mixture of squats, punches, lunges, kicks, and so much more it would be too difficult yo try to recap!

With the music and the fast pace, even though it was a very intense cardio and toning combo workout, the hour FLEW by.  I will DEFINITELY be doing Piloxing again!

For those that live in the Metro-Atlanta area, the class I took was at Street Studio in Roswell: http://streetdancestudio.org/atlanta-dance/

Tone It Up! Team Members: It felt like this class was designed by K&K! So many of the moves were so familiar, the fine toning added in, the energy - I was the only new person in the class but I was able to keep up because of my experience with a lot of the moves due to following K&K's workouts! If you can find a class near you, I definitely recommend it! GREAT way to combine toning and cardio together if you have a day where you are pressed for time!

Here is a pic of a class being led by the woman who "invented" Piloxing, Viveca Jensen. This is a particularly tough move but it felt great! In this position you circle your raised leg forward for a set amount and then backwards for a set amount. Man can you feel that burn!
