Justice League Inspired Outfits

After the Avengers' movie came out, there were several pictures on Pinterest of how to put together a full outfit based on the characters' costumes. All super cute and fun.  I personally also love the Justice League so I went on a search to see if anyone had put together something similar for all those characters. Either I wasn't using the correct terms to search or no one has done it yet.  So I decided to make my own! Below are the outfits with descriptions of why I picked each item - I tried to make the outfits based not only on the costumes, but on the characters' personalities as well.  There are 8 - the "big 7" of the Justice League in the comics are Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, Martian Manhunter, and Aquaman.  I am, however, a huge fan of the JLU cartoon in which Hawk Girl replaced Aquaman.  So, to honor both, all 8 are represented below.

Aquaman (Comics):

 Aquaman is the king of the underwater city Atlantis.  He is not overly fond of humans, but he still helps us out.  He's a friend to all sea life but he's still tough as nails which is why there isn't any cute fishy jewelry in this outfit.  Because he's an underwater king, I kept the feel beachy but sophisticated.

Green Capris pants incorporate both a costume color and the beach feel

Light orange open knit sweater over yellow bandeaux bikini top incorporate more of the costume colors and keep the sophisticated beach feel

Orange scroll sandals are practical for the beach but still elegant

Mustard gold trident bracelet incorporates one of Aquaman's symbols

A mustard gold boho headband rounds out the look, "crowing" our King of Atlantis inspired outfit

Batman (Comics):

Batman is definitely the darkest and edgiest of the JL team. He prefers to work alone but  understands the importance of being a part of the Justice League.  He is wealthy, intelligent, paranoid, gruff, and well trained.

Black slim cut (not skinny) boot cut jeans start the look.  They are chic without being over the top - evoking Bruce Wayne's style. They are functional, like Batman's suit

Yellow off-the-shoulder top dresses the jeans up a bit and the fitted waist evokes Batman's utility belt

Black leather motorcycle jacket with asymmetrical zipper brings in the darkness and edge but also evokes his wing-like cape

Accessories: jeweled bat ring bring in some bling while still capturing his mascot, grappling hook earrings evoke his many gadgets, the long black knotted necklace is simple and sophisticated but also evokes his use of ropes, and the black sculpted hairsticks bring in elegance, represent his time spent in Asia training, and evoke his bat ears.

Black pumps with peekaboo yellow bottoms round out the look- bringing in his two signature colors

Flash (JLU):

Flash doesn't just have physical speed - he's also quick with a joke and to tell beautiful ladies that he's available to them in any way they need.  He is confident and flirty and not an overly complex character so I wanted the outfit to capture that. Simple but cute.

Flowy one shoulder red dress with yellow belt incorporates not only Flash's colors, but also his attitude. It's simple, fun, and flirty and the movement of the dress mimics the "speed" lines always drawn behind flash in the cartoons and comics.

Yellow peep toe pumps with slight ruffle detail tie into the belt on the dress but also evoke the "winged foot" that so often represents speed.

Lighting earrings tie into the belt and shoes and incorporate Flash's symbol






Green Lantern (JLU):

Straightforward, smart, and always put together, GL is responsible for protecting a whole section of the universe but still manages to be here on Earth when we need him. From dealing with minor crises on earth to addressing the Guardians of Oa, GL can handle it all and so can this outfit. (Alternate version of outfit to right).

Black slim cut pants are fitted enough for a night out but tailored enough for a day at the office - pressed with military precision as our ex-marine would. It incorporates the base color of his costume as well as the sleekness. ALTERNATE VERSION: a fitted black pencil skirt with black tights.  A little dressier, and only slightly changes the silhouette.

An emerald green top brings in the signature color of our Green Lantern. The sleek shine of satin or silk mimics the glow of GL's costume, and the wide neck evokes the top of his costume as well.

Green oval drop earrings further tie in the signature color and evoke the GL base of Oa.

Green suede platform pumps are an elegant take on his boots.

No GL outfit would be complete without a ring! The iridescent quality evokes the light that GL's manipulate from their rings.

Hawkgirl (JLU):

She's sexy, she's tough, she hits first and asks questions later.  Hawkgirl is the embodiment of female power and has a little bit of punk in her. (And one of my favorites)

Yellow strapless top with embellishment mimics her top and brings in some punk flair

Green faux-leather leggings match her leggings and also bring in the punk flair

Brown lace up boots can be worn up or flapped, evoke her boots, bring in the punk flair, and allow the outfit to be changed with a simple flick of the boot top

Spiked bracelet evokes her Nth metal mace

Hawk talon ring brings in her namesake while still evoking a punk feeling

Silver wing earrings round out the look, bringing in Hawkgirl's beautiful wings


Martian Manhunter (JLU):

J'onn is eloquent, poised, composed, and coordinates the many members of Justice League Unlimited from The Watchtower. The last remaining member of his race, he's a little closed off but learns to open up. He is smart, cool, calm, and collected. (Another of my favorites)


The ribbed green wrap tank evokes not only his signature skin tone, but also the wrapping across his chest. It is elegant and chic, like J'onn.

The blue tunic wrap evokes his cape.

The green silk flats match the top and J'onn's skin tone, and add an elegance that boots would not

The red necklace evoke his belt and cape wrap; the stud earrings evoke the studs on his cape


Superman (Comics):

Kal-el may be from a different planet, but Clark Kent is as Down-To-Earth as they come. He's the leader of the Justice League, but he's still a farm boy at heart.

The blue cami tank and jeans incorporate a signature color and has the Down-To-Earth, farm feel

The red tunic evokes his cape and dresses up the look a little, making the farm boy look a little more like a leader



The yellow belt evokes his and dresses up the jeans a bit

The glasses evoke Clark's "disguise" glasses

The red patent leather flats with ankle wrap tie in to the tunic and evoke his boots while still remaining "Down-To-Earth"




Wonder Woman (comics):


Diana is an Amazon warrior and princess; the product of myth or god, depending on the timeline you read. She is magnificent, strong, gorgeous, and caring. (She's my absolute favorite)

The red strapless top evokes her top and the sexy, confident side of her personality

The sky blue skinny jeans bring in the color of her costume bottom

The red boots with lace up back evoke her costume boots, and also bring in her sexy, strong attitude and help us mere mortals try to achieve Amazon height ;)

The star necklace and earrings bring in a signature symbol and color of Wonder Woman

The goddess worthy gold cuff bracelet evokes her indestructible bracelets, reportedly made from remnants of Athena's shield.

The rope belt evokes her Lasso of Truth, ties in a signature color, brings in an elegance worthy of a princess, and matches the jewelry

The braided gold headband matches the belt and evokes her tiara
